will move city park's batting cage

September 25, 2006 | WELLSVILLE -- City Council members
voted unanimously Thursday in favor of a proposal by
Boy Scout William Cox, 15, of Troop 109, to move the
old batting cage in Wellsville City Park.
Cox, in full Boy Scout attire, told the council all
he would need from the city would be a backhoe operator
for moving the batting cage poles and for cement pouring
and removal. The estimated cost for this procedure would
be around $200, a cost some say is well worth it.
"I love being able to play sports in my community,
but sometimes there just isn't anywhere to park around
the basketball court or whatever," said Elliot Clark,
a native of Salt Lake now living in Logan.
Cox's mother, Mary, also agreed the cost would be
well worth having more space.
Cox said he would like to move the poles to get ready
for baseball season.
Wellsville plans to add more parking spaces for Christensen
Field, the field in which the batting cage will be located
once it is moved. The poles for the batting cages will
be moved about 100 feet.
