Park boundaries drawn in Hyde Park By
Jill Heffner HYDE PARK -- The boundaries for Lion's Park at 500 East 100 North have been staked, and Councilman Charles Wheeler says he has talked about them with five of the eight people whose homes border the park. Councilman Charles Wheeler and Mayor David Kooyman plan to meet with the remaining residents before the end of October. The park boundaries meet private property lines, and the residents need to agree on the new boundaries before JSH Surveying & Drafting can write the legal description. Improving the pavilion is one improvement planned for the park. Wheeler said he would like to see a restroom near the pavilion and a nature trail as part of the expansion. Kooyman said he would like to see lights at the baseball diamond at Lee Park, 200 West Hyde Park Lane, to increase usage of the park. The Hyde Park City Council plans to apply to the Utah Board of Parks and Recreation for a trail grant and an outdoor recreation grant for improvements to both Lion's Park and Lee Park. The council planned to discuss open space, but with the absence of Councilman Robert Balls and Councilman Gordon Bosworth, the council moved the discussion to an October meeting. The council also made appointments to the Board of Adjustments. Brent Kelly, Jim Skidmore and Mark Lynne, a member of the planning and zoning commission, were accepted as members of the board. Kooyman said he would like the city council to meet with the planning and zoning commission once a quarter, to make sure that the council and planning and zoning are "on the same page." The council plans to meet with the committee Oct. 1 at 6 p.m.
