Blackhawk copters rattle the Quad By
Matt Stephens Thundering vibrations broke the afternoon quiet on USU's Quad recently, as the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) conducted its weekly lab. ROTC members were giving younger students enrolled in military science classes the opportunity to go up in a helicopter, said Cadet Sergeant Master Tyler Buck. "For some of them this is their first time in a helicopter," said Buck. "It gives them a chance to get exposed to and excited for the Army." The UH 60 Blackhawk helicopter is used for troop transportation and transporting dignitaries, he said. "They flew the Blackhawks with the doors open and you had the opportunity to see the whole valley," said Cadet Masteller. Buck said the ROTC conducts the lab every Thursday. The lab consists of rapelling, combat survival tactics and leadership skills. Buck said the military science classes are elective courses for USU and anyone can take them. ROTC offers scholarships for those that are interested in the program.
