Cornish resident, town argue over whether she paid water bill By
Justin Creech CORNISH -- Jordeane Dent says she paid her water bill, but the Cornish Town Council said Thursday she still owes about $60 in overdue payments. Dent said she will sue the town of Cornish if she is not cleared of her debt. Mayor Dyer Pitcher said if the town waives her overdue payments, other people might claim the same thing and ask to have their water payments waived also. "We appreciate your input," Pitcher said to Dent. Cornish officials will go through its water records and investigate Dent's payments, Pitcher said. Town Clerk Karenann Wallace added some input on Cornish's business license policy. She said she had recently been to a meeting where she was instructed to have a better business license policy than the one already in place. Currently, Cornish requires a $10 fee in order to receive a business license, she said. "I just thought it was just something you've got to pursue," Wallace said. In order for the council to have time to ponder Wallace's business license proposal, Pitcher said to put that item on the agenda for the October council meeting.
