Salt Lake Tribune editor to speak at USU: 'It's OK to Question--Even in Utah'

LOGAN--The editor of The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah's largest newspaper, will speak on press issues next week on the USU campus in the opening Media & Society Lecture of the academic year.

James E. Shelledy's topic is "It's OK to Question--Even in Utah." He will talk about the importance of thinking critically and being skeptical, either as a journalist or as a citizen.

Shelledy also will engage students and other audience members in Q&A on journalism and related issues, including press coverage of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and subsequent events.

The speech will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Room 046 of the new Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU campus. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. For further information, contact the department of journalism and communication at USU, 797-3292.
