Hyde Park approves construction of sidewalk

By Kari Gray

HYDE PARK Construction of a new sidewalk at 200 West and 350 North was unanimously approved after lengthy discussion by the Hyde Park City Council Sept. 11.

The sidewalk will be built three feet away from the curb of the road and extends only 25 feet. It is being built to meet an adjoining road recently completed.

The estimated cost for having the sidewalk three feet away from the edge of the curb is under $100, Councilman Charles Wheeler said.

In other business, long term disability insurance as an employee benefit for city employees was also unanimously approved.

This will affect three full-time employees and four part-time employees, but will not include seasonal city workers, city recorder Judy Hawkins said.

The next council meeting is Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
