6th-ranked Trojans trounce women's volleyball team

Utah State women's volleyball team lost in three games to the University of Southern California by scores of 18-30, 19-30, 21-30. The Aggies' record now stands at 3-3 on the young season.

The sixth-ranked Trojans his a blistering .301 as a team holding USU to a .043 hitting percentage. The Aggies hit .059 in the first game, followed by a negative hitting percentage (-.040) in game two. USU managed to hit only .086 in the final game of the match.

Senior outside hitter Lisa Borom from Las Vegas, Nev. was the most consistent Aggie, hitting .273 and posting a team-high nine kills to go along with five digs. Junior Shauni Fluckiger of Hyrum, Utah, contributed seven kills. Senior middle blocker Michelle Matheson from Moreno Valley, Calif. had a team-high five blocks.

USU will look to improve its record when it faces the University of California at Irvine on Thursday, Sept.13. The Anteaters will be the Aggies' first Big West Conference opponent of the season. UC Irvine finished the 2000 campaign with a 1-15 record in league action.
