Utah State recorded its first victory of the 2000 season by shutting out Nevada, 4-0, Sunday afternoon. The win brings the Aggies' record to 1-4 on the season, while Nevada falls to 2-4. "We needed a win and we got one," said head coach Stacey Enos. "The problem was we put a lot of pressure on ourselves (to get a win) and we didn't play well. We didn't knock the ball around with authority and confidence." The Aggies started tyhe game playing less aggressively then coach Enos would have liked byt they turned it around when senior Jayme Gordy (Cheyenne, Wyo.) scored off a penalty kick at the 33:19 mark. The goal spark the Utah State offense as it recorded its second goal of the period when freshmen Ally Clegg (Bountiful, Utah) dribbled the ball from 20 feet out an booted in the first goal of her collegiate career in the 39th minute of play. Clegg's goal sent USU into ithe half with a 2-0 lead. In almost a repeat performance of the first period, both teams remained scoreless for the initial 25 minutes of play. Utah State decided to kick its game up another level in the 74th minute when transfer Jessica Ebner, making her collegiate debut, found the net from five yards out on a pass from Clegg. Ebner's goal was the first of her career. Eleven minutes later, at the 84:42 mark Clegg scaled the Aggie shutout, scoring her second goal of the day, tying her with teammate Jayme Gordy for fourth on USU's all-time list for points scored in a game.
