October 30, 2006 | With all the excitement over the makeover of the Paunis' home, some may have missed the fact that other stars were in town.

For example: the Beatles, John Travolta, Gene Simmons and the cast of American Idol.

OK, they weren’t really here, but pumpkin displays created in their likenesses could be seen at the Pumpkin Walk in North Logan's Elk Ridge Park.

The pumpkin walk has been around for about 20 years and is a popular activity for families in Cache Valley. Crowds on the evening of Oct. 23 were so big that cars were stretched around the block and at least two police officers helped direct traffic. The line of people on foot waiting to get in was about as long as a football field.

Also, on display was a scene from The Phantom of the Opera, it was created by Bekka Wallentine. An Oct. 21 article in The Herald Journal said Wallentine is 14, making her the youngest person ever to create a scene for the North Logan pumpkin walk.

Other scenes featured Vincent Van Gourd, a pumpkin rendition of Dutch impressionist Vincent Van Gogh. Scenes from the movies Grease and Saturday Night Fever were also re-created.

Renditions of famous artworks such as Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and a self-portrait of Van Gogh with the subjects' heads painted as a pumpkins were also on display.
