P&Z approves kitchen canning supply business
By Landon Bench
October 13, 2006 | WELLSVILLE -- Scott Page, president
of Highland Brands, LLC, was approved yesterday by the
Wellsville City Planning and Zoning Committee for a
new home occupation at 65 S. 450 East.
Page, 46, started his company four years ago, in 2002.
Highland Brands is an online canning and kitchen supply
store, dealing with blenders, juice machines, canning,
pickling, even emergency supplies.
He started in South Jordan, where he lives now, out
of a four-car garage, and will be moving to Wellsville
with a 1,700 square-foot barn as his new base of operations.
He currently has one employee but says he is looking
for more. All orders from his website will be shipped
out to the customer from the barn.
Page grew up in Sugarhouse, but loves a nice agricultural
setting. At the planning and zoning meeting, Page showed
up adorned in classic Western-wear. From his tanned
leather boots to a proud, oversized belt buckle, he
looked anxious to settle into the small city.
When asked if he was ready for Wellsville he laughed
and replied, "Sure I'm ready." He also said he was "real
excited" to move and that he was tired of the noise,
traffic and pollution that plagues South Jordan.
He's going to like it in Wellsville.
