Conditional use permit issued for preschool in Wellsville By
Karina Fain WELLSVILLE -- Lori Zilles asked the planning commission Wednesday night to issue a conditional use permit so she could run a preschool out of her home at 137 E. 200 North. "It's not an all-day event with lots of children," Zilles said. She said her business would not be a day care; children ages 4 and 5 would attend the school for two and one-half hours a day. Loyal Green, chairman of the commission, asked her to describe the parking conditions around her home. Zilles said she had a large gravel pull-off area in front of her house and a large drive. She also said the children would spend a lot of time in her backyard, which she said is fully fenced. Clark Poppleton lives near Zilles, and said he was in favor of the preschool, but was concerned about people exceeding the speed limit on their street. "I'm concerned about the children with the increased traffic," Poppleton said. He asked for better enforcement of the speed limit and suggested that "children playing" signs and additional speed limit signs be posted on the street. Green said the commission might want to talk to the law enforcement about this issue. All members of the commission voted in favor of the conditional use permit. Zilles' next step is to talk to the City Council for a business license.
