Trenton increases fees for pavilion use By
Justin Creech TRENTON -- Those who rent the town park and pavilion will be required to pay a higher fee beginning this month. The council approved the higher rate Tuesday night. Councilwoman Judy Ogden, director of parks and recreation, said those who rent the park and pavilion will pay a $50 fee and a $50 cleaning deposit. Similarly, those who choose to only rent the park will pay a $25 fee and a $25 cleaning deposit. "It was originally $25 to rent the park,^ Ogden said. Because the pavilion was added to the park within the past year there was previously no fee to rent it, she said. Councilman Scott McKendrick said there needed to be a cleaning deposit, separate from the rental fee. He said he recently had to clean up after a group had left the park, and it took a great deal of time to do so. "If [the cleaning deposit] is high enough, they might keep it clean," he said. Mayor Perry Spackman said if those who rent the park or pavilion don't clean up after they are done, there will be some consequences. "They could forfeit all or part of the cleaning deposit," he said. The fee and cleaning deposit will be paid with separate checks in order to keep the park records more organized, Ogden said. In another issue dealing with money, Spackman said he received a letter from the state of Utah concerning its review of Trenton's budget. Spackman said the budget has been approved and the council should be commended for their efforts. "The state's happy for the time being," he said.
