Rollover at USU farm not serious By
Melissa Dymock WELLSVILLE -- No injuries were sustained in a rollover in front of the USU Animal Science farm in Wellsville Monday. Sgt. Rick Mayo of the Utah Highway Patrol wrote in his preliminary report that a USU dump truck was making a right turn from U.S. Highway 89-91 into the farm when a white Toyota Tacoma came up behind it. The driver of the Tacoma was Christopher Gill, 28, of Logan. Mayo said Gill failed to see the dump truck in time to stop and swerved right to miss it. The Tacoma clipped the right rear of the dump truck, which forced it onto its side and into a ditch. Gill had been talking on a cell phone prior to the accident. The impact with the ground ripped the front axle completely off the dump truck. The windshield was shattered. Bystanders including Eric Galloway, an employee at the farm, helped pull Gill out. Others, including members of a veterinary and dairy class called 911. Both Gill and the driver of the dump truck, Valynn Pugsley, 19, said they were unhurt, though shaken. Mayo said Gill was issued a citation accusing him of following too close.
