Street renumbering discussed at Hyde Park public hearing
By Alexis Steele
HYDE PARK -- Residents filled city hall for public hearings Sept. 30, eager to be heard on two major issues: renumbering city streets, and revising the city's Master Plan. The hearing on street renumbering was led by City Council member Dee Child. He showed a chart with businesses he felt needed renumbering, and alternative addresses for those. After he discussed his views on the issue, several citizens added their suggestions and concerns. Some suggestions were a Hyde Park grid, and writing Highway 91, instead of Main Street, which would be easier for those not living in Hyde Park. The renumbering proposal is still under debate, since there was "nothing concrete to vote on," said Mayor Mark Daines. The second public hearing was on the city's master plan. This discussion was led by Jay Nielson, who helped write and revise it. A copy of the plan was given to all citizens in attendance, and Nielson discussed the major changes in the plan. Residents addressed their concerns or suggestions, page by page. Nothing was finalized, because it still needs to be reviewed by the City Manager and the Planning and Zoning Commission. In other business, the council issued licenses for two home businesses,
one for Liz Fallis Catering, at 252 S. 400 East, and one for Pitcher
Drywall Inc. at 437 N. 350 East. |
