P&Z splits lots, adjusts boundaries and goes home early
By Cody Gochnour
November 26, 2007 | MENDON -- In an abbreviated pre-holiday
meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved
a dedication of right-of-way and a lot line adjustment
for the new elementary school being built.
The commission also approved a lot split for Robert
Mouritsen as well as boundary line adjustments for Justin
Peterson and Rusty Myers. Peterson amended his plans,
moving the intended boundary two feet inside his own
property. An old fence located three feet from a shed
marked the intended boundary. An ordinance requires
rear boundaries be at least 5 feet from any outbuildings.
The commission also reviewed the changes to the General
Plan, as approved by the city council two weeks ago.
An allowance was made in that meeting to change population
figures, should more recent data become available. That
information came through Cache County's recent challenge
of census numbers. The latest estimates the county's,
and Mendon city's, population at about 10 percent higher
than the census numbers. This will add about 100 people
to the population estimate in the city plan.
Wednesday's meeting was wrapped up about a half hour
earlier than usual, allowing commission members to return
home and prepare for Thanksgiving.
