| Hyde
Park Council will have 2 new faces
By Angeline Olschewski
November 8, 2008 | HYDE PARK -- The City Council has
two new members, Bob Christensen who won 23.6 percent
of the votes, and Brent Kelly, who barely edged out
incumbent James Skidmore. Residents voted incumbent
Charles Wheeler back for his third term.
In January, Christensen and Kelly will take their
seats on the council. For the next four years Christensen
plans to "keep Hyde Park, Hyde Park," he said. "I want
to maintain the atmosphere and everything that makes
it unique.
"I just appreciate those that supported me and had
faith in me," Christensen added. "I'll strive to do
my best."
Kelly's plans for the city include addressing the
issue of growth. "Every time there's a request for rezoning
it doesn't have to be a traumatic experience," Kelly
explained. "We need to know our limits and resources,
and do it in a way that benefits everybody.
"I am honored and humbled that the people of the community
would put their trust in me," Kelly said, "and I will
work hard to prove that trust has been placed correctly."
Residents also voted against the transit proposition,
which was in general consensus with the rest of the
county, save Lewiston.
