Would you pay extra for newspapers without holiday ads?

"I would, any time of the year. . . . That's not what I'm paying for; it's just as gratuitous as the ads they now run in movie-houses or telemarketers using your fun to spin their tales. No wonder newspaper readership is down: Before you can read it, you have to weed it."

Preliminary hearing postponed to January

By Emil Dixon

November 25, 2005 | LOGAN -- Jesus Marcia, 28, of Logan, made his first appearance in court Tuesday afternoon to schedule his preliminary hearing. His attorney, Raymond Malouf Jr., said Marcia wished to waive his right to a speedy disposition and asked that the hearing be held on Jan. 17 at 9 a.m.

Marcia is charged with identity fraud and communication fraud. According to a document filed by the Cache County Attorney's Office, he was arrested in September by Logan City Police Officer Mark Robinson for trying to use someone else's identification and for attempting to receive money under false pretenses. If convicted of both offenses Marcia faces up to 6 years in prison and a maximum fine of $7,500.
