Nibley sewer construction making progress By
Julie Sulunga NIBLEY -- Construction of the sewer is progressing quite nicely in Nibley. The part of the sewer that runs along 3200 South from 800 West on down will be completed next week some time. There is conflict, however, over the number of times the sewer crosses over the irrigation ditch. Jay Cunningham and Paul Leishman were among the people who met with the city Thursday to discuss their concerns over liability. They are concerned that the part where the sewer lines will cross through irrigation ditch could cause holes in the ditch. The city feels this will not be a problem because they have had two geologists study the sewer and feel that a clay base will prevent any breakage from happening, said administrative assistant and recorder Larry Andher. "If we take responsibility for any holes that is like giving them a blank check," said Councilman Jay Harrison. The main line will have to cross the irrigation ditch two to three times but, as far as the approximate 20 lines with four-inch service we could dig under the irrigation ditch completely though it would cost a couple of thousand more, Andher said. In other council business, Mark Teuscher and Jay Aguilar visited the council from the Cache County Planning Office. They were there to talk about access management for roads in Cache County. Access management is a proposed countywide plan for more efficient access to businesses that are on the highway, and better exit roads to and from the property. Their visit was to inform the council of their plans and to possibly get all cities in Cache County to have the same laws. If this were done, everyone that applied for access roads to and from businesses and houses would get the same answer in Cache County.
