Victor Jensen is named new mayor with 80 percent of the city's votes

RIVER HEIGHTS -- Claiming almost 80 percent of Tuesday nightıs vote, Victor Jensen is named the new mayor.

Jensen, with 349 votes, beat candidate Lynn Hulse, who had 93 votes. Jensen will replace Mayor Ralph Degn, who served for one term and decided not to run again.

Two city council positions were also decided in the election. Three candidates entered the race and it remained close throughout the voting.

Gladys Ann Atwood and Debbie Reese won with 325 and 298 votes, respectively. Karl Shupe trailed closely behind with 276 votes. Atwood and Reese will replace Wanda Rhodes as Community Affairs council member and Mike Jablonski as Planning and Zoning Administrator.

Jensen, Atwood and Reese will begin serving in their new positions immediately.
