Hyde Park stresses options still open on North Logan library

HYDE PARK -- A decision to share ownership of North Logan's new library is not yet finalized. The City Council discussed options at its Nov. 11 meeting. On Oct.26, the North Logan City Council presented options for sharing the new library with Hyde Park, and the Hyde Park City Council agreed to try out the library until next June, when Hyde Park residents could vote on further commitment. The council felt as though some citizens were concerned that the decision to share the library was final. "The decision still isn't final and everyone knows what the options are," said Craig Crockett. He said that council members are still investigating the library issue. Mayor Mark Daines suggested they inform residents in a newsletter that it is something for them to try out. In other business, the council conducted a canvass of recent election results. Daines read the results in order of the highest amount of votes. The highest was Charles Wheeler with 400, then David Kooyman with 324, and lastly G. Bosworth with 318. Randall Lee, a representative from Charter Communications, came with the hope of getting council agreement to a 15-year franchise contract with the cable TV business. Lee said his cable service, "has the capacity to launch everything that is out there, and that it is in the top 3 percent in the nation, as far as the channels offered." Lee said the need for a 15-year contract was because "the capital
investment is massive." The renewal of the franchise was approved. The
council also discussed holding no council meetings on Nov. 23 and Dec.
28 because of the holidays. |
