PR Network, co-founded by USU communication alum, earns top rankings

DENVER - The PR Network (http://www.theprnetwork.com), co-founded by Utah State University communication department alumnus Brian Schaible (pronounced Shy-blee) is the leader among Internet portals catering to public relations and communications professionals, according to the latest independent traffic ratings from Alexa Internet, a subsidiary of Amazon.com.

The ratings put The PR Network at the head of a list of four public relations and communications dot.com sites that Alexa (http://www.alexa.com) places in the top 100,000 most visited Web sites among the estimated 8 million Web sites worldwide. The other three are PR Web, PR Central and Ragan Communications. PR Web is a press release posting service. The latter two are sites operated by well-known newsletter publishers.

Alexa collects Internet data from the surfing habits of its 3 million registered users who surf the Web with an Alexa browser bar that provides statistics about each Web site visited and suggests related sites that may have similar content. User visits to each site are tracked and collected to create the ratings.

"We've found Alexa to be an excellent indicator of relative traffic patterns on many different sites where we have examined their data," said Steve Wynkoop, PR Network president. "We are pleased to be able to report that our intuitive feeling that The PR Network is the best of its class is supported by objective, independent data."

Wynkoop and Schaible co-founded the network. Schaible is executive vice president.
