Dark, cold night perfect for 'trunk-or-treat'
By Rebecca Lorenz
PARADISE -- This year's Halloween celebration was a little different in Paradise. With houses so spread out and the weather turning colder, residents had something new in mind. The went "trunk-or-treating" instead of begging door to door. About 20 cars were in the LDS church parking lot with their trunks open, decorated and filled with candy for the children. Everyone wanting to participate in a safe and small celebration was invited to attend. "We had a great turnout. We didn't know exactly how many to expect with this being the first year, but there were about 100 that came out to celebrate a safe Halloween," said Maryann Olsen. The First and Second Wards of Paradise came up with the idea. The
idea was discussed due to safety issues. The roads of Paradise aren't
well lighted at night and the houses are extremely spread out. This
will now be an annual event in Paradise and will hopefully keep kids
off the street. |
