Latin American art and clothing highlighted in Hyrum By
Shanna Nielsen HYRUM -- If you were looking for a bit of culture last weekend, you wouldn't have had to look any farther than right here in Cache Valley. The Elite Hall in Hyrum was packed with art and clothing from Peru to Argentina, as the city hosted a Latin American art exhibit. The exhibit was free and was displayed April 25-27. "We did an exhibit last year," said Margaret Arce, member of the Strength and Diversity Committee in Hyrum. "Most of the stuff comes right from our living room." On display were clothes and art from nearly 15 Latin American countries. There was also Latin American currency for visitors to see. "Many of the things are donated," Arce said. "There are a lot of Latin American people in Hyrum." While there was no charge to view the exhibit, there were boxes available for visitors who wanted to make a donation. "They usually take donations for the Red Cross," Arce said. "This year though proceeds went to the Hyrum City Fire Department."
