Funky and 'groovalistic,' Cinnamon Brown gives USU students a fun sendoff

By Steve Day

The funky sounds of the bands Cinnamon Brown and the Eskimos and Jogan Janes were heard Saturday night at one of the final events of the year at USU.

The concert took place in the Sunburst Lounge in the Taggart Student Center.

The concert was sponsored by the USU Hockey Team, The Scone Cutter, Camp Chef and Great Harvest Bread. The show started at 9 p.m. and by 10:30 there were 300 to 400 people bouncing up and down to the beat of the music.

Cinnamon Brown added some special features to the show. USU student Aaron Rice belted out some fierce yodeling while Cinnamon Brown provided background rhythm. Scott Carl, a USU geology major, laid out a "super groovalistic prostafunctation rap number," said Quinn Brown, lead singer for Cinnamon Brown, and there was a special appearance by Red Velvet, who provided a smooth ambiance to the show.

The most creative and fascinating addition to the show was the belly dancer, Jenny, who asked that her last name remain anonymous. With a traditional belly-dancing outfit, which cost approximately $500, Jenny danced sensually while Xaq Brown played the bongos and Leo Denoyer played the drums.

Both Cinnamon Brown and Jogan Janes have quite large followings, the combination of which makes a great atmosphere of friends, fun and funkiness.

If you are curious of how funky Cinnamon Brown really is you can download most of their songs from their web site.
