'The Rookie,' about stuff dreams are made of, will leave you happy

By Liz Bellessa

The Rookie is based on a true story about Jimmy Morris, who plays baseball whenever he can, and all of those who were close to Jimmy throughout his life.

The movie is nothing but superb. All the laughter, crying, and feelings of what Morris was going through are on the screen.

Morris, played by Dennis Quaid, is the son of an officer who constantly is on the move with his family.

As Morris grows up, his dreams of playing baseball are shut down by his father.

All Morris wants to do is become a pitcher for the major leagues.

One move to Big Lake, Texas, will be Morris' last. To settle down and raise a family of his own becomes his goal after he gets injured trying out for the major leagues.

As a science teacher and a baseball coach of the local high school, Morris faces his own dreams head on.

When his players realize that Morris has talent, they are amazed and excited at the same time.

A simple bet with the playres might be Morris' only hope.

The bet: If the Owls baseball team wins district, then Morris has to try out for the big leagues.

Emotion runs high between all who are in the town of Big Lake, Texas.

The Rookie constantly keeps your eyes glued to the screen.

Overall this movie filled the expectation of one of the top movies to see.

Trials that face Morris, friends, and family members are also trials that everyday people face in the world too.
