Robey lights up the Skyroom with songs from new CD

By Liz Bellessa

As students walked into the Skyroom Friday night the sounds of music and laughter filled the air. Jason Robey sat and played his guitar and sang.

Tables were so crowded there was no place to sit.

White sheets covered the tables for students to color on and play games on.

The songs that Robey sang, from his first CD as well as his newest release, Inherit the Earth, were transforming. They took listeners back to when they were kids, and even when their parents were kids.

It is stunning what Jason's voice and just a guitar can be like in a room full of students. His voice seemed to emerge over all the laughter of students playing games and having a great time.

Some of the music Robey played had a little classical twist to it, along with some rock, which ended up sounding amazing together.

The mix of music was tasteful and sounded like it was always meant to be together with that certain tune Robey used.

The Poetry and a Beverageevent started out good, but as the night progressed it ended up great.

Listening to live music played by Jason, having a cold beverage, and playing games is more than a typical Friday night.
