JCOM student to perform at CD release party Saturday at Poetry & a Beverage By
the USU department of journalism and communication JCOM student Jason Robey will play three half-hour sets beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Skyroom at Taggart Student Center to celebrate the release of his second CD, Inherit the Earth. The event is part of ASUSU's Poetry & a Beverage series. The first and last sets will feature original songs, and the middle one will be a cover with Robey's friend Robbie Linton playing guitar and Robey as a special guest. Robey's first CD, released in January 2001, was Response. Both CD's are 74 minutes of original songs. Robey recorded all the instruments, did all the mixing and producing, and most of the artwork on both CD's. He has sold the first one only in person at gigs for $5, but both will be available in selected stores soon. Hastings has said it will carry them, Robey said. Robey played in a band called Newton through high school. When that band broke up in 1996, he started writing and singing, and began performing in public in December 1996. Since then he has performed mostly in restaurants in Salt Lake City, but also has had out-of-town gigs and a radio performance in Maryland.
