Hyrum council approves landscaping plan for storage shed lot By
Shanna Nielsen HYRUM -- With close to a full house waiting Thursday evening, the City Council held its bimonthly meeting. Among the audience members was the owner of Knight Storage Sheds. The council and Knight exchanged questions and answers regarding Knight's proposed landscaping plan. Knight already has storage sheds in several cities, including Logan and Ogden, and if all goes well he will have them in Hyrum as well. "These will be the nicest-looking storage units around," Knight said. The landscaping plan would include 12 weeping willow trees placed 30 feet apart. Although the council voiced concern over whether the trees would be well taken care of, it approved the plan, noting first that the trees would require water the first two summers but not after that. Concerns regarding traffic on 400 North and 400 West in Hyrum were also addressed. According to a memo from Mayor Gordon M. Olson, "In November, the city council directed me to explore alternate routes for trucks to use and report back in 90 days." The mayor then presented three options to the council which will be further studied before a decision is made.
