Nibley council approves business permit for gun manufacturing

By Natalie Larson

NIBLEY -- Recently, the rural city of Nibley has been inundated with new home-based businesses throughout their community, according to City Council Representative Todd Hansen.

Two more were added to the growing list at the Nibley Planning and Zoning Meeting on March 29. David Liddell and Vance Roberts were both approved for Conditional Use Permits and Business Licenses.

Liddell plans to continue manufacturing specialty guns for private clients out of his home. Dave's Guns is located at 4570 Hollow Road.

"This thing about guns makes me a little nervous, and I'm a gun owner myself," Richard Leishman, the chairman of the planning and zoning committee.

Liddell said he only makes about 12 guns per year. He does not advertise, but his business reputation is spread by word-of-mouth.

"I've never had any complaints from anyone around me," Liddell said.

In addition to his business license, Liddell also has to have a federal license to make guns. He previously had his small business set up between Millville and Wellsville.

Roberts will be housing his texturing foundations business in his truck, which is typically parked at 115 West 4000 South.

Like Liddell, he said he does not publicly advertise either.

Both motions to grant the permits and licenses were passed unanimously by the committee.
