Millville Planning Commission adds two alternates

By Sharalyn Hartwell

MILLVILLE -- Two new alternate plannning commissioners, Jeff Kirby and Ray Brown, were sworn into office last week at the Millville Planning Commission meeting.

Kirby will serve on the commission for two and a half years as the primary alternate. Brown will serve until August, then is up for reappointment. One position remains open.

While reviewing policies, procedures and training with the commission, Keith DeHart, chair of the Planning Commission, said to always go see proposed building sites.

"If you hear a complaint, by all means, take the time to go look at it," DeHart said.

He said if the commissioners take time to do that, they will know more facts and won't have to rely on what people tell them. It was noted that four of the seven commissioners had completed training for the position, which is "a lot more than what I've been working with the last few years," DeHart said.

The commission also discussed adjusting the budget to allow all commissioners to take part in training sessions, such as the one the American West Heritage Center in April.
