New Logan web site to be 'best in the state'

No, Logan has not suddenly decided to pick up all its buildings and move to different land. Instead, the city is moving to a different website. Work on this more comprehensive Logan city website began Wednesday, and Mayor Doug Thompson projected that the site will be up and running within six months. The site is tentatively www.loganutah.org, and Thompson explained that it should serve to help Logan residents by giving them one Internet stop for much of their Logan-based information. "We're going to try and do as much as possible over the Internet," said Thompson. "We will bring all of our web pages and make them share a consistency." Logan currently uses seven different web pages. Thompson explained that some of the hoped-for services included both the payment reminders and the paying of utility bills, Chamber of Commerce information, library information and navigation help to Logan commercial sites. And like the old site, the site will also show where Logan is, what is going on in town and why one would want to live in or visit Logan. The redesigning of the site, by a group in Georgia, will cost nothing to Logan. The company would recoup its expenses through a tiny portion of transactions conducted online. "It's a pretty good deal," said Thompson and he explained that Logan's
web site would be "the best in the state, and one of the best in the
nation." |
