Hold on to you sunglasses and your lunch on Lagoon's newest ride By
Jami Lundahl
FARMINGTON -- It might be a good idea to bring a pair of nose plugs on the new ride at Utah's one and only amusement park, Lagoon. Don't expect to stay dry either. The Cliffhanger is Lagoon's newest and wildest ride. The ride consists of two gondolas that seat 20 people. Riders on the first gondola begin by going 50 feet in the air and hanging upside down for five or 10 seconds, then the gondola swings down and hangs the other gondola upside down while shooting water up in the face of passengers. Then the fun really begins. Both gondolas spin around and around while passengers are swung upside down, backward and forward, while water is drenching every part of their bodies. Cliffhanger offers a unique riding experience each time riders decide they are brave enough to tackle the Cliffhanger. The Cliffhanger is for the adventurous only. I would not recommend it for a person with a weak stomach. Lagoon's Cliffhanger, which was installed in the spring of 2001, was manufactured by Mondial Amusement, U.S., an amusement park company in Holland. Mondial Amusement, U.S. is also the same company that manufactured Lagoon's Samurai. The Cliffhanger is included with an all-day pass to Lagoon. All day passes for adults are $29.95 plus tax. Lagoon is open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday. For additional opening times and dates, call (801)451-8000 or visit www.lagoonpark.com.
