Summerfest has more art, more food and variety of music By
Shawn Wolfley
Logan Regional Hospital Foundation is having its 18th annual Summerfest celebration June 14, 15, and 16 on Tabernacle Square. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. Thursday and continue from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Summerfest has something for everyone -- arts of all sorts will be displayed including paintings, watercolors, oils, ceramics, wood and metal work, and much more. Summerfest is a juried art fair where an art committee screens each application submitted and carefully chooses only the highest quality entries. Deena Hone, co-chair of Summerfest, is excited for this year's events. "Summerfest is growing and has increased the size of their participating vendors from 100 to 125," she said. Food vendors have increased to 15, from 10. "There will be a wide variety of food to choose from and should suit everyone's needs," said Hone. In addition there will be plenty of live music going on throughout the festivities. Friday a salsa band will perform from 8:30 to 10 p.m. On Saturday, the band Eidolon will play from 6 to 8 p.m. and special guest Grant Geissman will play from 8 to 10 p.m. The Children's Art Yard will also be available for youth of all ages. Children can join in with the crafts for a charge of $3. Children can choose from a variety of activities including finger painting, instrument making and T-shirt art for an additional charge of $3. This year Summerfest proceeds will benefit the Cache Kids Pediatric
Rehabilitation Center at Logan Regional Hospital. The Pediatric Rehabilitation
Center is designed to help assist children with special needs in our
community. These services include occupational therapy, speech and language
therapy, physical therapy and pool therapy. For more information, visit
the Summerfest web site.
