February 11, 2009 | William David Hart, Hyrum, pleaded
guilty Monday in 1st District Court to attempted sexual
abuse of a child, a 1st-degree felony.
Hart, 42, was accused of touching a 9-year-old girl's
buttocks at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan on Dec.
13. Her father witnessed the abuse and chased Hart until
he caught him, and called the police.
In his pretrial conference Hart agreed to a plea bargain
that amended the original charge of aggravated sex abuse
of a child to attempted sex abuse of a child. This reduced
the possible prison term of 10 years to life, to three
years to life.
Prosecutor Barbara Lachman said Hart has prior convictions
for lewdness.
Judge Clint S. Judkins set Hart's sentencing for March
30.
