lecture Wednesday
By Courtney Schoen
February 2, 2009 | The journalism and communication
department at Utah State University is sponsoring a
Media & Society Lecture featuring T.C. Christensen,
award-winning cinematographer, director and producer.
He will speak at noon Wednesday in the Eccles Conference
Center on the campus of Utah State University.
All are invited to attend this event who are interested
in learning more about film-making from the cinematographer
of several feature films and IMax productions, including
The ButterCream Gang, Rigoletto, Take the Lead,
The Testaments and recently, Gordon B. Hinckley:
A Giant Among Men.
Dr. Michael Sweeney, JCOM department head, said, "TC
Christensen is a talented film-maker, and our department
is thrilled to host him as he speaks for the Media &
Society Lecture." Afterward he will speak with
students and faculty.
Past Media & Society Lecture speakers have focused
on TV and kids, the political process, innovations in
PR to lead audiences, community activism, press and
the presidency, and the dangers facing foreign correspondents.
"We should all take advantage of the opportunity
to listen to the words of wisdom TC Christensen has
to share with us," public relations lecturer Preston
Parker said. "It's quite an honor to have him speak
at Utah State University. Anyone interested in the film-making
process or even the movie-watching process will likely
enjoy this lecture."
Christensen has won several awards in the last 15
years, including the CINE Golden Eagle Award.
