"We've uncovered some embarrassing ancestors in the not-too-distant past. Some horse thieves, and some people killed on Saturday nights. One of my relatives, unfortunately, was even in the newspaper business."

By Kelli Dodgen

HYRUM -- The City Council on Thursday approved an agreement to sell excess power to Washington City, Utah. Hyrum will sell blocks of power on Sundays from Feb. 15 through June 30.

The council agreed to the cost of $43 per MWh. The transaction is being facilitated through the UAMPS Power Exchange.

The power will come from the following resources, Unit Contingent on Hunter and San Juan Units. For the months of February through April, Washington City will purchase one MW, Sundays only. For the months of the contract May through June two MW, Sundays only.

This is the first time that Hyrum has had a contract to sell power with surrounding cities. Councilman Douglas L. Stipes says, "This is a great idea for the benefit of Hyrum City."
