RIVER HEIGHTS -- The Planning and Zoning Committee voted Tuesday to elect a new chairman.

The committee, which meets the first and third Tuesdays of every month, voted to name Chris Himmel as the new chairman.

Former chairman Steve Bilbao said, "I need a break." More people need to be rotated into the planning and zoning commission, he said.

The commission also discussed possible names to fill the place of Bilbao, a special exceptions ordinance that would allow the board of adjustments the right to grant or reject the needs of the community not covered in the ordinances, and a dilapidated trailer that is precariously placed on cinder blocks near the elementary school.

All discussions were postponed until further investigation of the problems takes place and the city council is consulted.
