Trenton residents angry over shooting of dogs By
Emily Aikele
Mayor Perry Spackman is acting as the town dog catcher and is working on finding a replacement who he can designate to be over animal control. The next town meeting will include animal ordinance enforcement on its agenda. At the Trenton town meeting Tuesday, the council decided to distribute welcome packets to new residents. Councilman Daryl Egan will oversee the preparation of the packet. This packet will contain a phone directory and a planning/zoning insert that will also be hand delivered to every home in Trenton. This insert notifies all residents about planning/zoning meeting times, building and lot permits, and animal limits along with other detailed responsibilities of residents of Trenton. Spackman wants a preliminary packet prepared and brought to the next meeting. Town Clerk Ann Spackman requested that purchase orders be used for all town purchases. "This would just help the books stay cleaner and I would know exactly where the money goes," said Spackman. The last order of business concerned Emergency Medical Technicians and the Fire Department. The two departments recently separated and the medical team needs more supplies. It is training additional staff to lighten the demanding workload. The fire department is working on establishing policies and procedures. Their building is worth an estimated $100,000 and are also discussing insurance policies for the building. Mayor Spackman commended Greg Rawson, a member of the Trenton road crew, for his outstanding job of plowing the roads this winter. The meeting was adjourned without holding an executive session. The agenda for next month includes going over the cemetery policy. Plans for a special planning and zoning meeting will also take place.
