Driving for a victory Aggie golfers hit the road
By Wade Denniston
The Utah State University golf team will take to the road for the Spalding Anteater Invitational
at the Coto de Caza Country Club in Coto de Caza, Calif., March 28-30.
The Aggies are coming off a 16th place finish at the Bite/Pacific Intercollegiate
Invitational with a team score of 914 (+50), March 4 and 5 at Santa Barbara, Calif., which was
the second spring tournament for USU.
Casey Beck was the top finisher for the Aggies, tying for 22nd place with a score of 222. The junior shot rounds of 73-74-75.
"Casey's playing out of his head right now," said teammate Mitch Harris.
The University of California claimed the team title with an 865, two strokes better
than host UC Santa Barbara and Oregon State.
Other USU scores include Chris Moody tying for 31st at 223, Mike Haws tying for 56th
at 227, Mitch Harris tying for 100th at 243, and Kevin lifestyles tying for 104th at 246.
Harris was displeased with his finish, as well as the year he's been having.
"I haven't had a very good year," Harris said. "But things are going well. I've
made every trip but one."
This will be the third spring tournament for the Aggies, whose highest
finish this season was a tie for third place with Utah at the Viking Intercollegiate at Portland State.
