North
Logan P&Z discusses park possibilities
By Melissa Salcedo
December 6, 2008 | NORTH LOGAN -- The Planning and
Zoning Commission met Thursday night to discuss possible
uses for an office park.
The land, five acres at 1625 N. 200 East, is surrounded
by multi-family housing and commercial property.
Jack Nixon, who is the owner of the 200 East Office
Park, wanted the commission's input for some alternative
uses for his land. Initially, he wanted to use his space
for office and retail, but decided to go in another
direction. Now, he has ideas for higher density housing
and one or two commercial offices. The property is close
to Wal-Mart and other shopping amenities, so that will
hopefully attract people to live there. Student housing
is also a possibility because of how close to campus
the property is.
Housing was the main idea that the commission focused
on. Commission member Glen Hansen suggested a park be
built on some of the property because there isn't one
around the area.
No final decisions were made, but Nixon will continue
to weigh his options.
The next Planning and Zoning meeting will be Jan.
