Aggies win a yawner, 79-29, against Montana Tech By

After a nail-biter against the Utes on Wednesday, the Aggies had no trouble handling Montana Tech as they defeated the Orediggers, 79-29, Saturday at the Spectrum. USU held their opponents to 10 points in the first half. The last time an opponent scored fewer points in a game was in the 1945-46 season as USU held Clearfield to only 23. The Aggies finished the game shooting just under 60 percent and held the Orediggers to only 26 percent shooting. With the victory over Tech, the Aggies now improve their record to 6-1. Leading the way for USU was center Dimitri Jorssen, as he topped all scorers with 14 points. All of his shots were dunks or layups. "My hand was on the rim all night," Jorssen said. The Aggies seemed to have no trouble getting the ball inside as 60 of their points came from layups or dunks. "We were bigger and quicker," USU Coach Stew Morrill said. Who would have thought the Aggies could win when the two big men, Tony Brown and Shawn Daniels, would combine for a total of 10 points? Freshman Thomas Vincent, who made two 3-point shots, saw the most action on the court as he played 24 minutes and scored eight points. The Aggies played 12 men, including Jason Napier, who received cheers when he came in. "It gives our guys a chance to get better," Morrill said. "I was surprised everyone knew who Jason was." The Aggies will now take a couple of days off as they begin to take their finals. Then they will begin to prepare for their next in-state game as they will travel to Provo, to play the BYU Cougars Saturday afternoon in the Marriott Center.
