According to the Cache County sheriff's report, the youths entered 14 automobiles and garages in Mendon on July 29 and 30. The report stated that the automobiles and garages were left unlocked, or had windows that were rolled down.

Among the things that were stolen were checkbooks, wallets, briefcases, and in one instance a camera and a bicycle worth $2,000. According to the reports there was no physical evidence found at any of the scenes.

The two were caught when they bragged to their friends about the thefts, and one of the friends turned them in to the police.
