Students at USU develop PR plan for Arcata String Quartet

By the USU Communication Department

On Dec. 2, four students at USU presented their public relations plan for the Arcata String Quartet to their class in the communications department. In working with the quartet, the student group created a PR plan designed to give the quartet a more professional and appealing image.

These four communication students developed a media press kit on CD to be given to all major newspapers, and chamber music societies around the country. The CD press kit included: video clips from various performances, fact sheets on the quartet, reviews from a variety of media sources, bibliographies on the group and individuals, group photos, press release and a current list of their recital repertoire.

The Arcata String Quartet is on a musical grant as quartet-in-residency at Utah State University. Along with teaching private lessons, the quartet works with the music department as adjunct professors. The quartet comes to Utah State from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

The USU students involved with this project are Mike Livsey, Amelia Chipman, KayDee Johansen and Grayson Wilcox. These four students hope this PR plan will bring the quartet more recognition campuswide and worldwide.
