Burglars sweep through Cache Valley businesses

ByJeremiah Stettler
A rash of burglaries swept Cache Valley over the weekend in what Logan police Sgt. Russ Roper believes is a series of related crimes.

"I don't see much of a pattern," said Roper. "But it appears to be the same person or group. Our assumption is that the incidences are all related, but we are still gathering information."

Logan investigators tackled the case Monday morning as 10 Logan businesses reported losses totalling more than $4,000 in cash and merchandise.

The first series of burglaries took place Thursday night as thieves broke into the Greek Olive Restaurant at 1085 N. Main St. According to Roper, the perpetrators made off with cash and a safe.

During the same night, additional break-ins were reported at Scrapbook Station on 1480 N. Main St., IHC Home Care at 110 E. 1400 North, Styling Unlimited at 446 N. Main St., Mars Beauty Supply at 115 E. 1400 North and Mail Express Plus at 77 E. 1400 North.

The stealing spree continued on Saturday and Sunday as break-ins were reported at State Farm Insurance on 232 S. Main St., Taki Casuals at the same address and Cache Valley Insurance at 94 S. Main St.

As of Tuesday morning, no developments had been reported in the case. Logan police Lt. Kevin Christensen urges business owners to be aware of anything out of the ordinary, and to take additional steps toward securing their businesses against burglary.

Those with information concerning the case are encouraged to contact Logan Police Department at 750-9900.
