mom's dinging of gas pump was a hit and a run, but no

April 24, 2008 | In a rush to catch her daughter's
USU softball game Thursday, Bountiful native Joanne
Evans and her mother Dorotha Taylor failed to realize
they had backed their black GMC Sierra into an Aggie
Station gas pump and drove off.
A $60 pump-handle piece was damaged and Logan police
were called in to investigate. Officer Kendall Olsen
responded to the 790 E. 1400 North convenience store
and contacted Evans after watching surveillance tape
of the accident.
"I got her," said Olsen. "She's in my sights now."
Evans and Taylor returned to Aggie Station and paid
for the part.
"I can't believe I did that," said Evans. "I didn't
notice I hit it."
Olsen, whose early stance was, "Well good, we'll get
her for leaving the scene of an accident," let the pair
go without a citation or arrest.
"She's paying $60 for that part, so I guess that's
good enough," said Aggie Station employee Shilow Ogden,
who witnessed the accident.
Evans' daughter, Tara, is a senior infielder on the
USU softball team, which hosted a double-header against
Idaho State Thursday.
