April 3, 2008 | NORTH LOGAN -- A crowd voiced its concerns
about the rezone on the corner of 2500 North and 800
East. This area is where a proposed subdivision would
be built consisting of 11 houses on 7 acres.
People living in and around the area of the rezone
voiced their concerns about the proposed plan only to
have little feedback from City Council members and some
explanations from the developer. Some such concerns
were about animal rights, and traffic issues along 2500
North, and the urban feel of the area.
"We would all like to have the lovely open space,"
said Roberta Herzberg, who lives just across the street
from the possible future subdivision. 2500 North has
already had concerns raised about its safety, especially
for the children coming home from school and having
no sidewalk along Elkridge Park. The hope is that if
the subdivision is created that the area will have curbs,
sidewalks and other developments made to increase the
safety in the area.
"I think we need to do it with the safety of all our
citizens in mind," said Herzberg.
The council wanted input from the citizens and from
the developer before making a decision on the area.
The developer, Curtis Jacobs, spoke to the citizens
that came and spoke, addressing individual questions
as he could. Since the area is still being revised and
planned for the concerns that could be answered were
and others were left up in the air.
The plans will be approved at a later date after all
these considerations were taken into account. The developer
was concerned that everyone understand and that people
could say what they felt needed to be done.
The next city council meeting will be at 6 p.m. April
16 at the North Logan City Library.
