By Ashely Zarate
April 1, 2008 | Paul Riggs, a 21-year-old Logan resident,
pleaded guilty to one count of interfering with a legal
arrest on Tuesday at his arraignment. It is a class
C misdemeanor and he has been fined $200, which he plans
to pay on a payment schedule.
Riggs said he stopped by a party and as he was walking
out the back door, he heard a police officer and walked
back inside.
Riggs' attorney, Lee Edwards, said, "My client didn't
respond to the officer because of shock and not because
of guilt."
Judge Gordon Low asked Riggs a few questions about
the incident that took place on Feb 8 at 10:50 p.m.
Low said, "Why didn't you respond to the officer?"
Riggs said, "I was startled and in the moment. It
won't happen again."
