Letting the dog out proves costly for owner
By Jamie Karras
An unlocked gate caused a long duration of havoc for a local pet owner.
When Wanda Anderson forgot to lock her gate, her dog got out and attacked
another dog. She was cited with a class C misdemeanor and ordered to
appear in court March 10. Arraignment time came and went with no sign
of Anderson, causing Judge Jenkins to issue a bench warrant.
A couple of days later Anderson called the court saying she had forgotten
about her hearing. Arraignment was rescheduled for March 31 and the
bench warrant was recalled.
At Monday's continued arraignment Anderson pleaded guilty, after seeking
further counsel from her lawyer, to charges of allowing a vicious animal
to go at large.
Judge Jenkins asked her if any restitution was being made. Anderson
said she had asked to be billed for veterinary care for the hurt dog.
The judge fined her $75 and asked her to bring the receipt from the
veterinary clinic to the court upon payment.
