Hyrum may get Family Dollar store by September

By Kelly Dunn

HYRUM -- The Planning and Zoning Commission sent on a recommendation to the Hyrum City Council, with a seal of approval for the site plan for a new Family Dollar store to be built in Hyrum.

Royal Seal Investments, which is planning on constructing the new store, is ready to go and can't wait to build the store for the community of Hyrum. It will be located just south of McDonalds, said Barry Forrest, real estate manager for Royal Seal.

However, the journey isn't over yet. For this new store to be built, the city council has to approve the site plan, building permits have to be filed and approved, and the state has to have its approval before building can begin.

Eric Andrus, chairman of the planning and zoning commission, said, "Just so you're aware, you have to get that [the state] approval, cause that is out of our hands."

The Family Dollar store is a family-owned business and offers good quality and low cost merchandise for customers everyday needs, Forrest said. The family that started the store is still involved and the company is in it for the long haul.

If all goes right for Royal Seal, the new store could be opening up in Hyrum by the end of the summer, said Forrest.
