Night of Comedy leaves students in stitches By
Shante' Tinsley What do you get when you take two guys from Virginia and a room filled with laughing fans? You get a "Night of Comedy," sponsored by the Utah State University Students Activity Board (STAB). The comedians were Tim Young and Buzz Sutherland- two of the funniest guys to hit USU's campus. The performance took place last night in the Taggart Student Center and was free to the public. Comedian Tim Young started the evening off. He has been featured on major television networks like HBO and NBC. His act consisted of jokes about everything from living in Utah, relationships between guys and gals to accidents with air bags and living with people named Chucky. Young threw in a couple redneck jokes, making fun of his small hometown, population 1,500, and strict "hairy" father. He now lives in Los Angeles where he is pursuing his career in stand up comedy. Not to be out done comedian Buzz Sutherland kept the audience in stitches as well. Sutherland is a five-time "College Comedian" winner and has also been featured on several television shows. His various voice impersonations and facial expressions are enough to make even the most sour face into a smile. Sutherland made jokes about campus security, rental cars, how to win and argument with your wife, and the similarities between his cat and great grandmother. At one point he got the entire audience to stand and sing "It's a Small World" to a crowd coming out of the International Banquet. Sutherland ended the night with a special musical light show. After picking one lucky audience member to assist him by putting flashlights up his nose he danced around and flashed his lights on and off to a musical fiddler. The audience members were literally rolling in the aisles. The night was promised to be full of fun and laughter and no one appeared disappointed. So, if you are looking to laugh until you cry then I would suggest watching out for these two comedians.
